MARTIN MARGIELA S/S 2007 ASYMMETRICAL 5-ZIP LEATHER JACKET WITH KNIT RIBBING
A gorgeous jacket from Martin Margiela's 2007 production. It is made up of a supple leather and features interesting details throughout. Hardware is rendered in a brass color that stands in slight contrast to the black leather. There are a total of five zippers placed on the garment that add to its look while providing function for the wearer. There is a central zip closure, two pockets on each side of the waist, with additional pockets found on the left sleeve and the upper right chest. A high quality ribbed knitting is used for the neckline, waist, and sleeves. At the center of the garment is a uniquely shaped placket that covers the central closure. This element adds distinction to the garment and also allows room for variation depending on the desires of the wearer. Following this placket downward, there lays an adjustable waist strap at the bottom. Again, depending on the wearer, this can be experimented with in order to obtain the desired look and fit. On each shoulder, military-esque strapping details assist in taking the visual weight away from the center in a favorable manner. The back of the garment highlights the constructive elements of the garment, as sharp darting seams run parallel to the center back seam. Overall, this is an exceptionally beautiful and interesting jacket that would make a great addition to anyone's wardrobe.
