Helmut Lang S/S 1997 Resinated Cotton Trousers w/ Contrast Waist

A beautiful garment from Helmut Lang's S/S 1997 production. The garment is packed with subtle yet masterful details that make the piece a distinctive piece. The exterior fabric of the garment is composed of a cotton that has been coated with a thin resin. This creates a unique juxtaposition between the familiar soft fluidity of cotton and the industrial rigidity that comes with resin. It is a unique combination that provides a desirable and appealing product. At the waist of the garment is a band that is made up of a painted white strip. It stands in contrast to the olive/green fatigue color of the pants. Five buttons work as the central closure for the pants, the primary top button is white to match the contrasting strip while the remaining four are greenish olive color to match the rest of the pants. The details do not stop here, as the lining of the garment is constructed of an incredibly beautiful iridescent nylon. This not only provides the garment with a luxurious and soft feel for the wearer, but also with an added body to the garment that makes it more substantial. Made in 1997, this garment was created at the beginning of the 'Helmut Lang Jeans' line that was produced alongside GTR (GRUPPO TESSILE RIUNITO), marking a period where the consideration of material and quality was arguably at an all time high.
