"A and B on their knees slowly approaching each other, A drooling and B wiping the drool, repeating the operation until A can't drool anymore"

For his conceptual performance titled "Comfort Zones", Allan Kaprow created a notebook of actions and frameworks that he would employ actors to play out. In this work, the composition is intended for two. Couples are tasked to undergo several activities, such as sitting in the dark facing one another and turning the light in anticipation of said partners' thoughts, or picking up the phone when one intensely thinks about the other. These actions render excessive closeness in both a physical and emotional sense. Though uncomfortable, the intent is to illustrate "territorial bubbles" or a nonverbal communication centered around a comfort that is dynamic and always changing with the people we share close relationships with.
